“There’s something powerful when we share the authenticity of our stories and share the authenticity of ourselves. I don’t think we have enough of that today – it’s so much about the surface of things; it’s so much about the appearance of things. And in certain ways, my actions fall into that category: we like big; we like breaking records, and so we’re drawn to that. In some ways, the action that I did is something that grabs attention in a world where so much is going on all the time – and we need things to grab our attention. But for me, the power of my story is just that I was, and still continue to be, a regular human being who found a courage to do something bigger than I knew myself to be by allowing myself to fall in love – to fall in love with the trees, to fall in love with the forest, and through that to fall in love with the world. And through that process, I learned how to embrace having my heart broken over and over again, which was not who I knew myself to be as a young girl. So when people see that I’m just another “we,” that’s when we can – collectively, all of us – look inside of ourselves and ask: what can I do? Where else can I grow in my service? Where is there an edge that I’ve been afraid to explore?”
