“Sometimes, in an addicted society – just as with addicted people – we are motivated to change in only one of two ways: crisis or inspiration. If we want to transform an addicted society, it’s important to point out what’s not working, but it’s actually even more important to point out what is working. Inspiration is seeing what’s possible and shifting our behavior. For those of us who do care about our world, it’s really easy to create blame; it’s really easy to point fingers; it’s really easy to become judgmental – it takes no creativity or brilliance to be those things. If we want to transform an addicted society, blame doesn’t work. Rather, we are called to create – and not just talk about – an inspiring solution that is so alive that people say, like, hey, I want to be a part of that; that the idea for a healthier world becomes so inspiring that people want to be a part of it. And it’s important to embody it, to create it, and to share it, not just talk about it. It’s like what my friend the actress Darryl Hannah says: if you wanna make people come on down, you gotta throw a better party.”

Finally after a long, long journey I’m feeling inspired again. New things are showing up. Learning about the bus you created was one of them. The knowledge you gained in building it, do you see it possible to do with my family with covid going on? My three sons are grown and currently living in the East village and The Bronx, in NYC. Thinking this could be a great opportunity to get out of the box of life they’ve come to know. I’m just gathering information before I discuss it with them. So appreciate your letter and your stepping back in support of yourself!!! Hope this doesn’t come as a burden. Reading your book now. All the best to you.
In great kindness
Jennie
