“We have this choice: are we more committed to being connected? Or are we more committed to being right? We strive to be right a lot, and that’s probably why we’re not further along. Because, if we have right on our side, why aren’t we further along? The way right is communicated is often from our judgment. Judgment kills off connection. The issues we face today are so serious, so painful, we sometimes lose the magic of life. We lose the sense that every time we take a breath a miracle just happened. If we can get present with the miracle of life, then the joy returns. And when the joy returns, the humor follows. And when joy and humor flow, we can hold space in ourselves for both deep grief and deep joy.”
From “War and Tax Resistance,” April 2010

I teach Kindergarten and we just finished a study of habitats. You are our focus activist for this habitat!. The Kindergartners (and their teachers) are finding joy in these crazy covid times-this is our 2nd week back together after over a year of distance learning, and for some, their first time at school. Ever. Joy. I see that you are in our lovely town tomorrow for Earth Day at Heritage Salvage. Come and play outside with us if you have time! We can go and lay under our majestic oak. We’re at school less than a mile away all day!
Hello Freya,
i ended up not being able to go to the event as i got very sick.
i am so glad the students have you to help teach them about the things of really value and importance.
Love,
julia

Had to learn this the hard way recently with an uncle who remained committed to Trump even after the insurrection. I realized my arguments, no matter how “right” I was, weren’t going to change his mind. So I’ve backed away from engaging in political debate.
From now on, I will focus on our family connection, and his love of canning, his deep caring for his partner, and his community spirit.
Thanks for the reminder of this important lesson. And I hope your spirit is soaring with the winds of positive change and renewal that seem to be in the air! 🙂
Much love,
Aaron
Thank you for sharing Aaron.
i pray all is well and wonderful with you and your family.

Much wisdom and truth in your words and perspective. Judgment blocks growth, energy, and is the thing that keeps us from our real authentic selves.
Peace
Thank you for sharing Mick.
