There are the angels among us... they hear us even

There are the angels among us... they hear us even when we don’t even realize, and reach out to support and lift us up, even when we feel we don’t deserve it for various reasons.

At the World Treehouse Association Conference @worldtreehouseassociation gathering in Washington, i was blessed beyond words by the angels in these pictures. Nick Merriman of @treesforlifemt www.treesforlifemt.com. Rainer (magical being for whom i got no contact.) @tim.kovar of @treeclimbingplanet www.treeclimbingplanet.com. And @rowan_on_the_go of @canopy_connection_tc www.canopyconnectiontreeclimbing.com. They all got together and made it possible for me to be back high in the canopy branches again after not being able to for many, many years because of my injuries and EDS.

In the ongoing series of posts for the @worldtreehouseassociation World Treehouse Conference gathering i went to in Washington state. Not only did we get to see a magnificent treehouse, but we were told about how @barefoottreehouses, Michael Murphy, talks with the trees before choosing which ones are the right ones to build with. He asks their permission, and over the years, he and others have created ever more ways to allow the tree to grow and sway even with a solid structure like this one. It was SO touching and inspiring to be around people who have such a deep love for trees and forests, and build and create in a way that honors our relationship with them. 2 more posts about this conference still to come! So much goodness couldn’t fit it all in one post.

Another update on the incredible days with @worldt

Another update on the incredible days with @worldtreehouseassociation, sponsored by @nelsontreehouse and @barefoottreehouses. i encourage you to check them out!

They had kids of all ages attending (even ones in adult bodies 😉😉) and they had a mini treehouse building competition. And what made me laugh so hard was when i realized how many cool categories they had beyond just “Best in Show” including, “Most likely for someone to get hurt on,” and “Least likely to receive a permit.” 😉😂😂😂👏👏👏🙌🙌🙌💚 There was so much talent involved. i was walking around Friday night talking to some of the builders who were still hard at work with headlamps. Met a super sweet and cool guy, Chris, who was making a treehouse with the best smelling cedar shake roof. i stopped and commented and we struck up a conversation. He didn’t know at first that i was “julia butterfly hill,” but when he figured out he told me about how he had learned about me in school (because i am old now 😉) and how excited he was when he heard that i was coming. At the last evening, everyone attending gets to vote for their favorite treehouses for each category. His ended up winning for one of them. If you look closely, you will see he has a “Respect Your Elders” flag flying from the top, and he took a picture of me and hid it inside the house. So when you peaked in the window is only when you saw me.

The running joke the whole weekend was that if many of those people had made my treehouse in Luna, i would NEVER have come down! 😉💚👏🙌🦋

It was so sweet to see very young kids of different ages and big kids, known as “adults” all participating together and having so much fun being creative, heartfelt, sincere, and silly!
