In Luna, it really taught me to live simply – and, I know, that’s an understatement! But through living simply, it taught me the joy of living simply. I really believe that society has told us to believe that our joy in life has to come from how much things we have – what kind of car we drive, what kind of jewelry we wear, what kind of clothes we wear, what kind of house we live in – it’s like our whole value as human beings is based on things… Living in Luna, everything that I took for granted was taken away from me. So, it was a challenge to re-think and learn in every moment of every day. Everything was a learning lesson.

Julia … Your legacy is one to be admired and studied by those who care about this planet … and even by those who do not care enough. It may well impact them to the point where they’ll at least start thinking about it. I had left a previous comment that you and I were in post-card communications back when you were courageously holding vigil in Luna’s branches. I still have the complimentary, signed copy of that first book and am rereading it as I now begin my next writing project, a novel regarding an ancient prophecy that spurs dormant woodland spirits into action. I’ve been busy with my theatre & indie film works in past years, but more so now with my recently released novels. The forthcoming one, I believe you’d appreciate, due to its theme and I’m hoping to reference in it, you and your longtime efforts on behalf of our world. As one who is still in awe of your unselfish commitment to making our planet a far better place, I hope we can at least stay in touch occasionally via e-mail.

Isn’t it amazing how people had to learn simplicity for a brief period during COVID and how much a majority of the population couldn’t stand it? There was a kind of withdrawal from it all
But it was so nice to see regardless of how short-lived it was.
Now, everyone is pretty much back to the hustle for more and better stuff again.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Steven. When we look at the masses and the mainstream, no we don’t see much of a shift. However, when I get out and meet individual people, I have met many who were inspired to make lasting change.
Love,
julia
