Recognizing the Nature of our human nature

by | May 25, 2022 | posts, Quotes | 3 comments

Part of the reason why our world and planet are facing such crisis is because we have become disconnected from the NATURE of our human nature. And in order to find our truest nature for ourselves, there must be a connection to the nature that we’re a part of.

Unfortunately, in a lot of our cities, we have destroyed a lot of the nature from which we come — and to which we return. We’ve so altered nature that we no longer recognize it as nature in the form of a building, or as light shining down on us, or as water as it comes out of a faucet. We have to look at where the Disease of Disconnect is in such a way that we can find how to heal it.

Where have all the humans gone?

i have collaborated with friends of mine and incredible company, Everland, on a short animation and call to action, featuring a recitation of the poem i wrote during my 2-year tree-sit protest in California’s ancient redwood forests from 1997-1999, “Where have all the...

    Very well said…
If we look at our journey through time as humans, we see that right from the beginning of our history that we’ve changed the world around us to suit our needs.
Humans hunted and gathered for many millennia.
Then came farming which destroyed the world’s forest
Lumber for buildings, ships, furniture, tools, home heating and the forges placed an immense demand for trees.
Our nature is to destroy and change nature to advance and survive.
Here in Maine we have changed our lumbering practices to be less destructive on nature.
Our strict rules on mining also has made an incredible difference.
Yet we still find pollution in our drinking water amongst other issues.
We can change to be more harmonious with nature but not everyone cares.
Many only care about themselves and beyond that they really don’t bother to see the impact on our earth they make everyday..
I agree with your statement of disconnect, it’s spot on.
We have become disconnected from Nature and it’s destroying our ability to exist.
We need to change our ways, actually we have to.
We are as humans are more aware now then we were 20 years ago for this need to change.
But there are still lots of entities more concerned with greed and personal gain than they are our children’s future.
We as humans that are dedicated to making decisions to better the health of our world should never give up our battle against those who just don’t care.
I admire your personal struggle for this cause and commend you for sticking with it.
One part of human that’s scary is…
Humans tend to only change when they absolutely have to.
Many times it’s to late for us as individuals, and I believe as a whole humans inherently are just that way.
Hopefully it’s not to late for humanity to put down our weapons, stop killing ourselves and the world around us for greed and personal gain.
