“Extraordinary people are extraordinary because all they are is extra ordinary – they just don’t let their ordinary-ness stop them. I’m probably the world’s biggest cynic – I just don’t happen to let that stop me. The reason why superhero cartoon characters are interesting is because they always have a human side. If they were just a superhero, they’d be boring; it’s that other human side of them that makes them an interesting character. And so I don’t necessarily feel like we’re going to get ourselves out of the massive mess we’ve created – I’m just not going to let that stop me. Why? Because life is a miracle; what else would I want to do with my life than offer it in service to the vision of the world I want to be in, regardless of the outcome?”

Hi Julia,
I am a park ranger and adjunct university teacher. I have been teaching my students about your story as a part of my class. Just want to say thank you for being such an inspiration. I wish you could speak to my University environmental education or interpretation class sometime. Thanks for your work! Tomas Randolph
