Unlocking blocks to our own knowing

Sometimes, the line between incredible passion and fundamentalism is really close. Fundamentalism is a stagnant knowing. And yet, nothing in the natural world tells us that stagnation is healthy. Everything in the natural world in which we are a part tells us and teaches us that things are in motion and things are in inter-relatedness and inter-relationship; that’s where life is; that’s where our thrive-ability is. Everything we need to know is already in us and in the world and the cosmos to which we are connected. And all there is is blocks to that knowing. And one of the tools to unlock these blocks is meditation. So, I’m not really saying anything new. I’m just trying to reflect back what is true, what each one of us already knows, in an unattached way, and maybe in a new, fresh way. I’m just trying to enliven it in some small way, to bring it forth, to clarify it, so that we leave this space more excited, more inspired, more lit up and on fire to make a contribution to this world in which we are a part.

The Caterpillar and our addiction to Comfortability

In our culture, we are manifesting an addiction to comfortability. We are birthing an addict society. I went through a time in my life where I was a major drug and alcohol addict. And so I know, on a very real level, what addiction is. As a society, we are being...

Thank you for reminding us to be aware of our connection to everything. Mindfulness must be a constant practice. It’s so easy to slip into distractions. Health in all ways is that constant flow between each of us and the natural world. Your work is important. What you set into motion will never be forgotten.

Thank you Julia! Meditation really began for me just about 3 years before hearing of your incredible Luna experience. I had been living at Lama Foundation in northern New Mexico (started in the late 60s by Ram Dass) and left the mountain…like many did…after a 7,500 acre fire known as The Honda Fire. My girlfriend after moving to Taos…singer songwriter Jenny Bird, brought to my attention your courageous protection of Luna.
I am a tree planter and closet environmentalist living back in CT yearning for the community and open skies of New Mexico these days. I lived out there from 95 to 99 and the open horizon during that time changed me in ways I cannot describe. My younger brother who led me to Lama has a small cabin below the foundation. He’s raising boys out there, living in Santa Fe and working as a Mental Health Counselor. Meditation and Mindfulness are my anchors. I have a 15 year old daughter who will need these skills and I intend to teach her. She’s dealing with the loss of her Mom. Very tragic!! She lives in VT and tho I lost time with her after moving away there is no denying our bond. Will you ever give a talk on the East coast? I’d be willing to help set it up. Thank you for your story, your courage, your work. I am trying to figure out how to preserve small “pockets of nature” here on the East Cosst. Blessings upon you and yours, Andrew
