“Get present without judgment. When we feel judgment we shut down. Judgment kills off life. I think most of us would never ever want to clear-cut a forest. Yet I have complete compassion in my heart. I don’t think in my heart that we are that kind of a species. When we start to feel it β our pain, our addictions β then we can start to heal it.”

Thank you Julia. I wanted to be like you when I was a wild teenager, angry at the world. But I was too scared and too self-destructive. I didn’t understand that when we blame and fight against our demons that we are propping them up, lending our energy to that which we want to change. Only when I started to have compassion for myself, for how far astray my anger led me, and for those who did things like clearcut a forest out of a lack of understanding and their own fears and insecurities, did I find peace. We are all operating at the consciousness we are at. We are all healing. I honor your journey in all of this. I’m glad, after all of these years, that I thought of you tonight and found this post. – Carolyn
