“We live at a time when we are blessed and cursed by access to too much information. The blessing is, we have the capacity to help our brothers and sisters – human and non-human around the world — with the access to all this information we have all the time. But it’s like a sponge: if you fill a sponge up with all dirty water, and then you go to wipe up the counter, what happens? If we fill ourselves up with all negative information, there’s no room for the positive. And everything we touch is going to have this negative residue upon it. Our inherent wisdom and our body wisdom can tell us when we don’t need that information because we will feel a shutting down experience. It’s important to know what’s wrong, but it’s not important to know everything that’s wrong. We all know we live in a world full of problems, but the biggest problem is we don’t also know we live in a world full of solutions. … The body wisdom can help us know where and when to search out things even though we know it might be painful, and when and where we know it’s inappropriate. We will feel that constricted feeling when we shut down, and we will feel that expansive feeling as a natural opening.”
